Chapter One:
I Accidentally Vaporize my Pre-Algebra Teacher
Chapter one of Percy Jackson and The Lightening Thief introudices the reader to Percy Jackson. Please describe your impressions of Percy. Include one text-to-self connection between the life of the character Percy Jackson and your own. Include evidence, a quation with a page number from the text to illustrate and prove your connection to Percy.
ex:) ...Sometimes I feel just like Percy Jackson. When he describes on page 12, "...my brain falls alseep or something, and the Next thing I know I've missed something, as if a puzzle piece fell out of the universe and left me staring at the blank place behind it." I can connect to Percy Jackson becuase sometimes I wake up from a good daydream and it is like life has continued on without me and I have to catch up to what everyone is busy doing and talking about. I seomtimes feel bewildered but more often I wish I could return to my beautiful daydream.
I would compare myself to Percy Jackson because on pg.12 Percy saw Ms . Dodds and she vanished and then he caught up to her and she vanished a other time and I had the same problem because I saw a cat in the middle of the street. I saw a cat and people were walking all around the cat and then boom the was a block from were I saw it and then the cat looked like it was one of those cats with rabies and I was looking really closely and I looked away for like one second and the cat was right on my foot screamed and ran home.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I feel like Percy Jackson. When Percy said on page10 “ I gave her the deluxe I’ll kill you later stare”. I do the same thing to people but it’s not a “I’ll kill you”, it’s an “I’m confused” stared. The reason I can connect to his stare is because we both give people some type of stare. We may not always have the same stares but that are stares that we like to give people. Percy Jackson is really smart, his just a little crazy. I can’t wait to finish the book.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I feel like Percy Jackson because on page 12 of the book my mind drifts of while I am supposed to be doing something else and time moves on. My daydreams are hard to get back to but it’s also hard to get back to the real world. Percy and I can get spaced out for a while so it’s totally what we have in common. Daydreaming is just you thinking about something and time passes while you think and you totally forget what you were doing. It is totally common for Percy and I to daydream because we usually daydream all the time.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I feel just like Percy Jackson when jis teacher Mr.Brunner tells him What you learn from me is vitally important. I expect you to treat it as such. I will only accept the best from you, Percy Jackson" I think his relates to me because all of my teachers say the same thing about me because they think I have alot of potential. Percy Jackson also thinks all of his teachers are out to get him. In elementary school I used to think all of my teachers were after me too especially my algedra teacher. My Algedra teacher always used to get me in trouble and kick me out of class for no reason. I wish I was able to vaporize my teachers sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem on page 11, I have ADHD and sometimes I forget what some one said like my brain just erased my whole memory. ADHD is difficult to live with even if you’re an adult or a child. Another thing we have in common is that we have friends that have problems like Percy has Grover and I have friends that are like his friends. Percy Jackson and I are different because, he got kept back many times and I never got kept back in my life. That’s mostly all we have in common.
ReplyDeleteIn literacy class we are reading a book called The lightning thief Percy Jackson. The main character is Percy Jackson. One thing that I have in common with him is that I been in a lot of schools. Percy Jackson has been to six schools in six years. That’s just like me every year I go to a different school. So far I think this book is great and I hope it stays like that.

ReplyDeleteSometime I feel like Percy Jackson. Like on page 3 when Percy Jackson want to yell at the red head, orange freckly girl behind them. He wanted to yell at her to stop throwing chunks of peanut butter and ketchup sandwich at his friends Grover. I have many connections with Percy Jackson. But I can only say one. That one is that when he wanted to stick up for Grover but he can’t. He can’t because he is on probation. But my connection is when I want to stick up for mine friend I might not be able to because, it might be a bad time. Or also I could be is my friend wants to do it be him self. But sometimes it just comes out and I just say it. Or I just get upset because they don’t want me to help. But the connection is we both want to help our friends but sometimes we cant because of the rules or they just don’t us to get in the middle of it.
I think that me and PERCY JACKSON have in comment is that he is in the 6 grade. And I’m in the 6 grade. That he gets in troble a lot and he is only in the six grade. And that I get in troble a lot. So I think that what me and PERCY JACKSON have in comment.
ReplyDeleteMy imprestion of Percy Jackson is that he is very different, day dreams a lot and his mind drifts of from him some times. When I’m bored my mind is on something other than what it needs to be on. When the teacher talks for a long time or when I’m tired I some times day dream. I consider my self different in many ways. I think something I think Percy and I have in common is that we both get mood swinges.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I feel like Percy Jackson. On page 9 it said the school counselor had told him a million times, count to ten, get control of your temper. I could connect to this because when people or something get me mad or aggravating I count to ten because I know is the right thing to do because if I don’t get control of my self I know that I would do something crazy or something that would get me into trouble .Sometimes I feel like doing sometime to that person but in the other hand I know that person is trying t provoct
ReplyDeleteOne connection I have to Percy Jackson is when he said “Nancy Bobofit was trying to pickpocket something from a lady’s purse, of course Ms. Dodd’s wasn’t seeing a thing”. That connects to me because I have 2 brothers that do something and doesn’t get caught. One event that happened was when we went to stop and shop, my brother tried to take a bag of Hershey’s cookie & cream from someone’s cart. Sometimes he doesn’t get caught every time he does it and my mom is always looking for something else instead of paying attention to him. In the story Percy Jackson thinks that when Nancy Bobofit does something Ms Dodd doesn’t even notice.
ReplyDeleteSomething I have in common with Percy Jackson is that both of us have to find ways to deal with our anger. On page 3 Percy tries to control his anger and not let it go on Nancy Bobofit. Most of the time I am really relaxed and don’t show my anger because I know the consequences. Percy Jackson thought about what the consequences, which was being on probation, and didn’t let out his anger. Percy and I are alike because we both find ways to deal with our anger.
ReplyDeleteWhat I think about the book lighting of thief is a really good book because she talks about her feelings in the book.
ReplyDeleteAnd in first grade my teacher was playing with me saying that she was going to eat me and I got scared at school in k2 grade so than I wasn’t going to school unto she left.
and I kept telling my friends in I got school that ms dent that she was going to eat us and then my mom said its not true and I said to my mom how come she said she is one.
Then my mom brought me back to school and talked with my teacher.
And then my teacher called me in the class room and she said I was trying to make you happy not scared.
and then we hugged and my teacher said sorry.
I can relate to Percy because from 2nd – 6th grade I have looked out the window and I stare at the trees and just blank out. Then I have no clue what I just mist. Also I get angry real quick like when he used his powers to beat up bobofit at the fountain. Sometimes that can get me really in trouble. I remember on accident (I didn’t know what I was doing at the time) beating up Catherine in the second grade.
ReplyDeletePercy you and me have something’s in common. you know how shutdown and forget things that happens to me to a lot. Its like I get angry and don’t know what I’m about to do. Poof there you know I’m back. Its like floating in space with glasses. These shutdown things happened to me in fifth grade were a boy had took my lunch and I just got mad and lost what I was doing and I just punched him and got in trouble and started picturing things but not the eating and fighting the teacher with a pen that turned into a sword .maybe if me and you meet we could talk about our problems like you know about getting in trouble I know you don’t like school I don’t epically going to literacy its boring I know but I will catch up later
ReplyDeleteSometimes I just feel like Percy Jackson in a funny way. Especially when it comes to forgetting things. Like from time to time I forget to put my sneakers on in the morning. Also day dream because I get board. Now you know my introduction paragraph.
ReplyDelete• When I forget things I don’t get mad like him. And I mean why would you its your personality. Like in page four he didn’t react to it. Lastly Percy Jackson and me are alike in many things and thins was one of them.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians
ReplyDeleteToday I am going to be talking about what we think about the main charter Percy Jackson. We also will be making a text to self-connection. One way we are the same is because we both went to a lot of schools. Another connection is that we both sometimes daydream. Also when I was at my old school every time we went on a field trip I would seem to always get in trouble. The pages that the evident is on is 5,7,and 11.
There are a couple of things that me and Percy Jackson have in common is that we are both in the sixth grade and we are both 12 years old. We both have been to different schools so many times and I always got use to. When I get bored I always daydream about things and Percy does the same. When a teacher tells us a interesting story and someone else is talking I tell them to be quiet out loud and I sometimes get in trouble if I don’t get caught. One last thing me and Percy Jackson have in common is that we both think that when we see a mean teacher we both think that they aren’t human.
ReplyDeleteSomething that I think I have in common with Percy Jackson is that I am in the 6th grade, and also I am always daydreaming. I think that Percy Jackson is a bright boy, but has a lot of problems in school, well in math class (which I think is perfectly normal because everyone has their problems). Something that Percy has that is impressive is that when he was on his way to the Manhattan and Nancy Bobofit was bothering Percy’s friend, Percy was trying VERY hard not to do something dum or something that was going to get him in trouble. He was very open minded of his decisions and made the right one.

ReplyDeleteSometimes I feel like I am like Percy Jackson. He gets in trouble because other people, and so have I. It is extremely annoying sometimes, and I know for sure that there are many things you can do to solve this type of problem. I know that I always used to get in trouble when I was in 1st grade. On page 3 he gets in trouble because Nancy Bobofit. She was throwing food and when someone came to stop it Percy got in trouble. What I did to stay away from the trouble was to stay away from that person. Its extremely hard not communicating with your best friend. So I know that if Percy were to do that he would have a lot of struggles.

DeletePercy Jackson and the lightening thief
ReplyDeleteMy connection about this book is that when I was In Jamaica and I was in school I use to be in a lot of trouble I Percy Jackson. Percy Jackson was one of the bad children in his class. on page 11 the school counselor told him that he had adhd. Adhd mean his brain misinterpreting. If my brain was misinterpreting I would do a lot of bad thing so that my mother can make me go to school every mouth.
Percy Jackson reminds me of myself in many ways like he blacks out when angry. Like when he blacked out end sort of pushed that Nancy girl in the fountain and he didn’t even realize it. I can see that Percy really tries to keep his temper under control but some situations he just can’t handle himself. I feel like that a lot like when I am arguing with my sister and then I just end up hitting her but then I feel bad afterwards then just end up apologizing to her. But sometimes I just don’t feel as if I need to apologize to the person. I think I’m really going to enjoy reading Percy and the Lightning Thief because the main character is relatable.
ReplyDeleteIsaiah Martinez 6b ms.lider’s class Percy Jackson is a grate anther and I have a lot of connection’s with him and my first connection is that I have dyslexia as well. And I always gust daydrem always. About some thing funny and stupid and dome .
ReplyDeleteMy connection with Percy Jackson is that we are in the sixth grade and we are both twelve years old. The most part that we have in common is that we daydream every time. But I don’t go to boarding school, but Percy goes to goes to boarding school. We might have common things. Like, I don’t get in trouble but Percy does. I’m just a normal kid .

We started reading a book called “ The Lightning Thief ” by Rick Riordan. Percy Jackson had many impressions. My favorite impression was when Percy was feeling nervous so he said that his knees were shaking. One text to self-connection is I get nervous when people call me out and he was shaking when Ms. Bruno called him out to explain the picture or image.
Me and percy Jackson have a lot in common like we went to different schools . We get in to problem like I get into problem with bullys you got in trouble by Nancy ,but you didn’t do anything to her .
ReplyDeleteSometimes I feel like Percy Jackson. When he describes on page 4-5, “One time, after she’d made me erase answers out of old math workbooks until midnight, I told Grover I didn’t think Mrs. Dodds was human.” I can connect to that because sometimes my dad is always yelling and grounding me 4 no reason. Sometimes my grandparents are doing that same thing. Sometimes I wish I were with my mom. She’s the best in my opinion. But I like my math teacher and the other teachers too.
ReplyDeleteChapter one response
ReplyDeleteIn chapter one it was really terrifying. This is really a good book because his “teacher” Mrs. Dodd’s turned into an animal. I thought she turned into an Eagle. The reason I say it’s a good book is that if you like funny, scary, and mysterious. Then you should get this book. Anyway this book was pretty interesting and I only read the first chapter. Percy was getting in trouble because Nancy Bobofit was being a tattletale. And she lied saying Percy pushed her. The terrifying part was when the teacher turned into a monster and a pen turned into a sword. My connection was that text to world when I say it on a television channel. That was my connection because it happened in a book and in real life.
Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief
ReplyDeletePercy Jackson: The Lighting Thief my impression of Percy is that he a very wondrous person because of some of his action’s “like pulling that lever when they went in that behind the scenes marines shark pool”. Something that I can connect with Percy is that he daydreams and then forgets or doesn’t know what happened. For example like that time when his brain fell asleep and forgot about ms.dodds. I can relate with that because when I am in class or sometimes I am thinking about something else and then forget about what the teacher was talking about or what we was learning. Even sometimes the whole purpose of why were doing something. Another way how I can connect with Percy is how you get caught up and can’t hear things when other people are talking. It gets really distracting especially when you wanting to learn and people are talking. Ex when everybody was talking in the museum when Mr. Brunner was talking. This is how I can connect with Percy Jackson.
Sometimes feel like Percy Jackson because on page 14 when he clueless of were was the teacher. And I had this experience when I sometimes wake up from a dream and someone has left or step out for a little I ask were do they be at. And it is also the same because I sometimes feel confused with were that certain person is at. But sometimes I feel like going back to sleep. And I feel like I am in another universe.
ReplyDeleteWillie Hobson
ReplyDeleteSometimes I feel like Percy Jackson. When Percy Jackson said that he has this annoying classmate named Nancy Bobofit who gets away with a lot. Well when I was in the fourth grade there was the annoying kid named Shawn who got away with a lot and blamed stuff on other kids. I think me and him, felt the same way about our annoying classmates.
Percy Jackson is the same thing as my brother because my brother gets in trouble a lot. And my brother don’t listen to his teacher and it is the same thing like Percy Jackson. Percy Jackson went to a private school because he gets in trouble. And my brother went once to a private school because he gets in trouble a lot.
ReplyDelete1.He is in 6th greed and I am in 6th greed me and he have the seem greed.
ReplyDelete2. he have a band school and I have a good school
Chapter one
ReplyDeleteI can make connection to percy Jackson because he get mad fast and so do I. for an example if your said someone said something I dint like I would get mad. When the girl in the story was messing with him and his friend he want to get revenge so do I. when his friend hold him back so he dint get in trouble my friends use to do that for me. He push the girl the water and I did to before. This is how we are alike.
Some times I feel just like Percy Jackson too. Everyday I find myself daydreaming. I can daydream for two minutes and jump out and jump right back in. Like on page 10-11 it says “ Then I turned to face Mrs. Dodds and she wasn’t there. S he was standing at the top of the museum entrance, way at the top of the steps, gesturing impatiently at me to come on. How’d she get there so fast? That’s how I see things to when I’m some where with my mom. But its either because I’m being nosy or I’m day dreaming at something or saying something to some else that I shouldn’t be saying. Me and Percy are just alike
ReplyDeletePercy and I are alike because we both are in the 6th grade. We both have the tendency of daydreaming. We feel that our mind just black out and we feel that we just missed something. I daydream for 2 – 5 minutes and I feel that I missed like an hour of something. Percy and I are alike because we both are in the 6th grade, we both are 12 years old, and we both space out/ feel that we missed something important.
ReplyDeleteThe conversation that Mr. Brunner and Grover are having is about keeping Percy alive. Percy thought that they where talking bad stuff behind his back. But they where trying to keep him away from danger. But I think the book might be about how Percy is going 2 get him self in to trouble. Then he fights his way out of it. But it might have to do something with the Greek gods, that’s because on page 12 about Mrs. Dodds. Percy said, “She was a shriveled hag with bat wings and claws and a mouth full of yellow fangs.”
ReplyDeleteChapter 2
ReplyDeleteI can infer that Percy will not die. He might even save the world. I think that Grover will tell Percy all that has been going on and why they didn’t tell him before. Percy might be confused.
My impression of Percy is that he is misunderstood. I think this because he is always the one to get caught in the middle of things. He seems to have a lot of emotion that no one seems to notice about him. A girl named Nancy Bobofit would always terrorize him and make him feel like he was a big bully, when he really wasn’t. Then, when Nancy just “happened” to fall into water.
ReplyDeleteThe relationship between Percy and his mother is very hard to explain. This is hard to explain because him and his mother were always being separated and his mother really could not enjoy being around because Percy would be in danger. Percy and his mother’s relationship was also a loving, caring, yet painful bond. I say the relationship is loving and caring because any time he can be near his mother they both are happy and connected but also as happy as they are they still have a piece missing from them knowing that Percy is in danger.
ReplyDeleteWhen it come down to the way Percy feels about his stepfather Gabe is horrible. There relationship is very, very bad Gabe hates Percy and Percy hates Gabe. They really do not like each other because of the fact that Gabe blames every misfortune they have on Percy. And Percy dose not like the fact that Gabe is a smelly old man who mistreats his mother and Percy loves his mother too much to let her live this way wile he off being disruptive in school. Percy wants to love his father but from the story his mother told him he has a lot of trouble doing that. Percy also has a lot of trouble believing the fact that his father abandon him before he was born, so now that Percy knows that his father didn’t even get to see him makes it even harder to try and love some who dose not even know him. Percy’s best friend Grover is a half goat half boy. He has hairy legs and is able to talk to other animals.

Percy Jackson
In chapter 1 in the Percy Jackson book I think that Percy is a bad boy and he goes to school and no body in school likes him except his best friend Grover in this chapter it talks about how Percy didn’t like his teacher ms. Dodos and ms. Dodos hated Percy, and when Percy goes to school ms. Dodos looks at him and he sits down and ms. Dodos calls him and when he comes up ms. Dodos tells him something and he gets scared.
