Chapter 2:
Three Old Ladies Knit the Socks of Death
In chapter 2, Percy Jackson in getting ready to take his 6th grade final exams. He is worried that his favorite teacher, Mr. Brunner, is going to be disappointed in his grade on his Latin final. When he goes to get extra help from Mr. Brunner he is surprised to find his best friend Grover is already talking to his Latin teacher...except instead of talking about the test they are talking about him, Percy Jackson!

Percy and I are alike because we both are in the 6th grade. We both have the tendency of daydreaming. We feel that our mind just black out and we feel that we just missed something. I daydream for 2 – 5 minutes and I feel that I missed like an hour of something. Percy and I are alike because we both are in the 6th grade, we both are 12 years old, and we both space out/ feel that we missed something important.

In chapter 2 Percy Jackson worries about what he heard when he eavesdropped on Mr. Brunner and Grover. He thinks he is in danger and I agree. Those 3 old ladies must be deciding something and I can tell because I think Grover is hiding something. I predict this would turn into an adventure for Percy because what Grover doesn’t want to tell him could answer what those 3 old ladies were doing. Percy wants to know what’s going on in his life and he just might find out is what I think.
ReplyDeleteThe conversation that Mr. Brunner and Grover are having is that they are talking about Percy and Grover says to Mr. Brunner that he is “worried” about Percy because he fond out about Ms. Dodds and he is afraid that Percy is going crazy because he doesn’t know what he Is talking about. My prediction of what is going to happen next is that I thin that Grover is going to take Percy to his summer house so he can be safe and I think that Percy is going to meet Grover’s family and I predict that he is going to think that his family is a bit strange. When I was reading the book it says that Percy and Grover got back on the bus because the old ladies were staring at Percy so I can predict them going to Grover’s house to be safe away from evil.
ReplyDeleteOn chapter 2, it has evidence that Percy Jackson might die because, the title of chapter 2,”Three old ladies knit the socks of death” sounds like someone is going to die. Mr. Burner and Grover were talking about the Greek gods being furious because, someone stole Zeus’s thunderbolt and Zeus thinks Percy is the thief. Percy was thinking someone he might die because, Grover didn’t want to tell the truth about the danger Percy is in. Percy also feels that something is related about Ms. Dodds and the three ladies knitting giant socks. Ms. Dodds tried to kill him, maybe they might try to kill him too.
ReplyDeleteBasically what they were talking about yesterday was about something about Mrs.Dodds it was sounding like that, but I’m not so sure there’s no proof whether or not it just sounded like that I think Grover does know Mrs.Dodds. I think some one is going to start chasing or something totally scary is going to happen to the both of them, I don’t know there’s something Grover is not telling Percy that Percy should know about before its too late for explaining. I say this because on page 21-28 he’s acting all scary and nervous. The descriptions of Grover’s feelings, its almost like he is terrified. But what does that have to do with the 3 old women and huge socks and scissors cutting yarn? I don’t know I guess we will find out in chapter 3!!
ReplyDeleteThe conversation Percy Jackson overhears with Mr. Brunner and Grover having was about Percy Jackson’s “hallucinations”. They thought he was going thought to much stress. I think Percy is about to learn more about Grover, him self and what a half-blood is. It thinks Percy is going to have to stop these bad creatures to save the world.
ReplyDeleteThe conversation that Percy overhears is about him leaving and Grover said he “ was going to be alone this summer ” and they were talking about the matters being worst if they rushed him. Mr. Bruno said that they need the boy to mature more. Mr. Bruno and Grover were also talking about him seeing her. I believe he was talking about him noticing Ms. Dodd’s and I think that they are keeping a secret from him. I think that what is going to happen is that Percy and Grover are not gong to be friends. I believe that their friendship is going to end because Grover was lying to him when he asked him what they were talking about. I also infer that Percy is going to find out about Grover and what was he talking about when he was talking about the fruit stand.
ReplyDeleteIn chapter 2 Percy Jackson was ease dropping on his friend Grover talking to his teacher Mr. Brunner. Percy think that they were talking about him so he talk to his friend Grover about how he was ease dropping and how he heard them talking about him. So I think that Percy is going to ask Grover so many questions that some how Grover is going to have to tell Percy something and then Percy will start realizing who Grover is and what is happening. I think that this is going to happen because Percy is continuing to ask Grover many questions and I think Grover is breaking down, so Percy is always getting a step closer.
ReplyDeleteA lot happened in chapter 2. The conversation that Gover and Mr. Brunner was having was about how Percy Jackson is in danger at Yancy Academy. Percy thinks that they are talking about him getting in trouble but they are not. What Percy Jackson heard, I think that he will do something good so he won’t get in trouble. Also, so he could stay in Yancy Academy with his friend Gover. The reason I think that is because he misses his mother but he LOVES being with Gover. Percy said “I’ve gotten in fights, keeping bullies away from him”. Percy protects Gover from danger. So I think that he really doesn’t want to leave yet.

I say this because in chapter 2 on page 19, “ Grover said, “Worried about Percy sir?” I predict that in chapter 3 Percy is going to come against another demon, and Grover is going to take off his pants to help Percy. I predict this because of the title of chapter there Grover unexpectedly loses his pants. The title says it all most of the time.

And they were also having a weird conversation because they had hid something from him and telling secrets so Percy Jackson was ease dropping. Because on pg 19 Percy Jackson was listening to their whole conversation. And Grover said “I am worried about Percy Jackson sir. And he paused and listens to the whole thing. I predict that Percy Jackson is going to find out what is going on and then use his powers to stop evil and crime also so he can become a hero.
ReplyDeleteWhat I think is going to happened in the book is that Grover is going to protect Percy from Ms.Dodd because in page 19the conversation that Mr. Brunner and Grover had Grover told Mr. Brunner sir he saw her.. And Ms.Brunner answer him back his imagination, the mist over the students and staff will be enough to convince him of that. So what I think is going to happened next in the story is that Grover is going to stay very close to Percy because I think that he is the one that would protect Percy from her and also I think that she wants to kill him because in the same page in the last few sentences it said Now lets just worry about keeping Percy alive until the next fall. I think that means that she wants to get him because maybe for all the things he did to people and because he don’t lean something from school. Also I think that the next chapter is going to be about Grover protecting Percy but maybe Percy is going to think that he can handle things by himself and he don’t need no one to protect him from her.

Grover was worried about Percy. Percy is afraid now because a lot of weird things happening to him like three old ladies were looking at Percy in a weird way while they were knitting. My predictions that’s going to happen so far is that he might find even weirder thing now after what happen to him in the metropolitan museum with mrs.dodds.
ReplyDeletePercy hears his name in a conversation between Grover and Mr.Brunner. He hears Grover say to Mr.Brunner he was worried about Percy. He was worried because he mentioned a teacher who never went to Yancy. He thought something bad was happening to Percy Jackson.
ReplyDeleteI’m assuming in the following chapter Percy and Grover are going to see these old women again. I also think the sword has to do with the problem as well and Grover is going to explain it to Percy. Maybe in the next chapter Grover is going to do something to Percy to protect him from any danger around. This situation probably is prevented by the steeling of the lightning.
The thing that I inference about chapter 2 is that Percy Jackson might have to fight off those people I mean the 3 old lady because he said that he has to pick out flowers for his grave so I would infer that he would fight the old lady and maybe they might have to stop the old lady because they might be killing people because Percy said on page 27 and his friend said that he might start coming down with the flu and he would think that Percy started asking questions and that when the crazy stuff started to happen and that when was all over for chapter 2 about the 3 old lady’s also the conversation that Mr. Brunner had all to do with this because they were talking about Grover have to protect Percy and Grover was protecting him from the 3 old people because they might have been the same as Mrs. Dodds and that was the crazy thing.

ReplyDeleteWell in chapter two Percy is about to get help from Mr. Brunner. He wants Mr. Brunner to help him study for the test the next day. But when he about to enter his classroom he over hears Mr. Brunner and his best friend Grover talking about him. Percy over heard them saying Percy was in danger. He also heard that Grover was afraid of Percy being by himself during the summer time. Then Percy heard them say one of they in the school they must know. That makes me infer that Grover and Mr. Brunner know who Ms. Dodd’s was and they were just lying to Percy. Then Percy heard them say a word called summer solstice. This makes me infer that Grover and Mr. Brunner are one of the half bloods too. I think Percy might almost die. I say this because, on page 28 last paragraph he said he looks like he already looking for flowers for my coffin. I also think that Grover and Mr. Brunner are half bloods too because, how do they know everything about them. There are many possible answers but I think they are one.

ReplyDeletePercy Jackson says this he looked at me mournfully; like he was already picking the kind of flowers I’d like best on my coffin. He said this because he thing that she was going to do something about it. She wants to talk to Percy Jackson because she is probably she want him to no that if she come back to school tomorrow she is going to die in the next chapter if she says that. Percy Jackson favorite teacher is Mr. Brunner because Mr. Brunner let him do any thing he want to do.
Percy Jackson wanted a teacher to give him a few pointers on his Latin exam, so he decided to talk to Mr. Brunner. Percy started walking to his office when he heard Mr. Brunner talking to Grover. They were talking about the protection of Percy, and Grover said, “Sir, he saw her….” Therefore referring to her as Mrs. Dodds, the person who was Percy’s pre-algebra teacher, and who everyone seems to not know anymore. I think that the old ladies are just like Ms.Dodds, because Grover is acting suspicious around Percy.
ReplyDeleteThe conversation Percy Jackson hears from Grover and Mr. Brunner is that Percy was hallucinating about Ms. Dodds because they have never heard of a math teacher on the field trip named Ms. Dodds or even in Yancey. So after the Latin exam he thinks that Mr. bunner is going to be furious of his grade. When Percy tries to talk to him instead he sees Grover. They think that Percy isn’t acting mature by pretending about that fake teacher. Another is that its Grover’s job to protect Percy. Mr. Brunner thinks that Percy should stop using his imagination because it would lead him to trouble. I think through out this book perky is going to keep everything that Mr. Brunner said about him in his head. Because he brought it up to Grover, when they were on the “Greyhound” to the city. When Percy hears that I think that he is discouraged at his best friend Grover because he could’ve talked to Percy to his face and feels very embraced now.
ReplyDeleteI predict that something bad is going to happen to Percy, or Grover in chapter 3. I say that because Grover was acting really suspicious when Percy was talking to him. For example when Percy overheard Grover and Mr. Brunner talking he heard them saying that maybe Percy was crazy, or maybe he was just seeing things. Then when Percy and Grover got on the gray hound bus Grover said that he needs to protect Percy over the summer even though Percy has been the one standing up for Grover throughout the year.
ReplyDeletePlus when the bus broke down and everyone had to get off Percy say three old women knitting huge sock, but then Grover got scared because he saw a lady cut a piece of the yarn… which symbolizes death. Grover also made Percy promise that he would let Grover walk him home. After the bus had broken down and Grover saw the old ladies he swiftly told Percy to get on the broken down bus as fast as he could to get away from the old ladies.
I think that the reason Percy is getting kicked out of school is because he kept on talking about Mrs. Dodds, which in this case no one knew what he was taking about. When Grover and Mr. Brunner were talking they were saying that Percy may be crazy.
Isaiah Martinez I am about to describe the conversation Percy Jackson overhears Mr. Brunner and Grover having. This is what I think Grover needs to tell what is about to happen and stop being a little puck and scared and tells him. And this is what I would go to Grover and say tell me what ‘s going on and don’t give me liys what do you mean thay never pass the 6th grade.and what do you mean that did I see that what the old laedes did of cores I seen that .

Chapter two I red Percy Jackson. In this chapter Percy over hares his best friend and his and his teacher talking about him and he was listing and they was taking about how they are warred about Percy because he was saying how he had a rood teacher name ms.boods and he came and ask every body what happened to ms.boods and no body new ms.boods. And when school was over Percy and his best friend went to the city and on they way there the bus that they was going on stared to smoke and every body had to get out the bus and when they got out there was three lady’s with blond white hair and they was netting the biggest sox Percy ever seen in his life.
The lady in the middle was holding the basket and the other to ladies was netting the sox and they kept staring at Percy the lady in the middle cut something and she was looking at Percy.
Then they got back in the bus and Percy thought that he was going to die and his friend was picking his favorite rose for his grave.
I think the thing that is going to happened on the next chapter is that Percy is going to have a bad luck on every thing he does just because those lady’s was looking at him.
The conversation Grover and Mr.Brunner were having was about percy jackson and keeping him alive. Based on the conversation Mr. Brunner and Grover had, and the converstation Percy Jackson has with Grover I predicit Grover will die in the next chapter somewhere because he's Percy Jackson's protecter and he's will do anything to protect him. In chapter two Percy is kicked out of school and is forced to go home and since grover is getting on the same train they decide to ride together but whe the bus breaks down in this deserted place Grover sees these three old ladies just staring at Percy and tells him to get on the bus but when Grover leaves his side for a quit minute Grover says something that makes Percy the middle ladies breaks out a pair scissors and cuts the yarn that the two other ladies were using and Percy immediatley gets on the bus. That's when Grover get worried and asks Percy what did he see and he says "The old lady in the middle took out a huge pair of scissors-gold and silver, long bladed, like shears.

ReplyDeleteThe book Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief is getting very interesting and I can’t help but try to inference on what is going to happen. The conversation between Percy’s best friend Grover and his teacher Mr. Burner is very was very puzzling. They were saying things like “He seen her” and stuff like “ We can get him to believe that it was his imagination”. I think that they are trying to help Percy live a normal life but weird things always happen to him. And I think Grover is some sort of guardian and is very older than everybody thinks and I think Mr. Burner is even older. I started to think that when Percy mentioned that his eyes look as if he is one thousand years old. I also made the inference for the next chapter that Grover is going to tell that he has done something like this before. I mean be a guardian of a child at Yancy .I strongly think this because he said in the end of chapter two that they never make it past sixth grade. Like he failed so many times before.

ReplyDeleteAlso because all that she been through protecting her friends from the bullies in school and that her friends don’t like her or Percy Jackson is scared that it might be him dying or the flowers is to give him to somebody else or friend wants him to give the flowers to say good bye.
Also that Percy Jackson is shrinking and she not learning that much in his school and getting in trouble too much so I guess people want him to dye.
And Percy Jackson need to come down and stop imaging to many things that will get himself a little nervous.
Percy Jackson hears Mr. Brunner and his friend Grover talking about Percy. That Grover has to watch Percy over the summer. I think Percy is going to be killed but the gods is going to make him come back so he could fight the demons and get the lighting bolt back.

But they where trying to keep him away from danger. But I think the book might be about how Percy is going 2 get him self in to trouble. Then he fights his way out of it. But it might have to do something with the Greek gods, that’s because on page 12 about Mrs. Dodds. Percy said, “She was a shriveled hag with bat wings and claws and a mouth full of yellow fangs.”

ReplyDeleteThe book Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief is getting really interesting. I just want to finish this book now! The conversation with Mr. Brunner and Grover was really confusing. He had seen three different girls at the fruit stand. They were also old. They gave Percy a weird look. And they think that he is going to die, because they already have her flowers and the coffin.
Grover has also been protecting Percy. Grover is basically Percy’s guardian angel. He also gets into a whole lot of trouble. I think that it is just because of the dyslexia. I believe that he can get out of that trouble and get good grades so then he doesn’t have to always change schools every school year.

Mr. Brunner also said how he wasn’t mature enough to go he was still small. They also said how he could not fail. This is the conversation that Percy hears Mr. Brunner and Grover talks about. My prediction on what is going to happen is that Percy is going to think that Mr. Brunner and Grover really don’t care about him and are going to set him up or do something to him. I also think that Percy is going to study and see what Mr. Brunner and Grover do when they’re around him. Lastly I think that Mr. Brunner and Grover might try to do something to him. This is I think Percy is going to do.

Something might be going on and Percy doesn’t know what was going on he might get upset that they didn’t tell him before.

ReplyDeleteMy three favorites parts in the Percy Jackson movie is when Percy and annabeth were fighting and percy got engird and he got a cut and he hard a voice in his head that said water and he went to the water and he put his hand on the water and all his cuts got better, my other favorites part is when percy, Grover, and annabeth went to the museum and the people that works they turned in to the big dragon with fire breath and Percy was really scared, the last part is when percy went to Medusa garden and he got stuck and medusa got her head chop of.
I would say the part that should be in the in the movie would be when Grover was getting carried to the fire pit by the shoes. When Ares was not in the book at all and it was in the book at all.
Now in this paragraph I am going to talk about how the parts in the movie like when the works in the museum turned into a dragon and tried to kill Percy Jackson.

The book Percy Jackson and the lighting thief is so much diffent from the movie that Hollywood made. Holly wood took to many things out that were in the book. It was a good movie but if you read the book you will like the book better. Next time Hollywood should not take so many things out that happen in the book. There are some things that I like and some things that I hated. But the book and the movie were good.

Mr. Bunner and Grover were talking about how Grover was worried that that he is going to stay by himself in the summer. The reason why is because e Summer Solstice dead line is ending. But Mr.Brunner's advice was that they just need to learn how to resolve without Percy.
